Finding Courses

Richland Community College offers two ways to find courses -- the Interactive Course Search and traditional Course Schedule documents.  Both include the same important course information - including class times, location, prerequisites, etc. – the only difference is how the information is accessed. 

  • The  Interactive Course Search allows users to perform a query to search for specific courses, based on a variety of criteria. These include searches based on course title, times, and faculty.
  • The Course Schedule is a set of several documents organized by course locations and delivery methods.  After opening, users can easily search within each document by clicking “Ctrl-F”.

Important Note:   In order to ensure accuracy, Richland Community College updates these documents periodically throughout the day.  In addition, Dual Credit courses are not included - please contact your high school counselor for dual credit course information.

ONLINE Classes (sections beginning with V), where you receive all of your instruction and assignments online with specific due dates as outlined by the Instructor. Instructors might provide opportunities for live virtual sessions.
 
ONLINE LIVE Classes (sections beginning with D), where there is a mandatory time when the Instructor and students are online together. An example of this is a live lecture streamed to students over the Internet. All other course materials and assignments are provided online and available at any time during a specified period as outlined by the Instructor. Scheduled time requirements will vary between courses and sections so please be sure to refer to the fall course schedule for more information.
 
HYBRID Classes (sections beginning with Y) are a combination of face-to-face and ONLINE or ONLINE LIVE.

Late start courses are those that begin after the first week of the term.

The Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) is a statewide transfer agreement, which is transferable among more than 100 participating colleges and universities in Illinois. IAI works best for students who know they are going to transfer but are undecided on the college or university that will grant their baccalaureate degree.

Intersession Offerings

Intersession are short-term courses that fall between the normal offerings of a semester.  These are typically offered during winter break (December-January) and just before summer break begins (end of May) and just before fall semester begins (end of July-beginning of August).
