International Student Requirements

International students must be 18 years or older to apply for admission to Richland Community College.

Before an I-20 can be issued, individuals must satisfy the admissions criteria.

Financial Resources

All applicants must furnish proof of adequate finances for the entire period of planned attendance. Copies of bank statements or an affidavit from an appropriate bank will meet this requirement.

Academic Credentials

Applicants must have completed the equivalent of a high school diploma (12th grade). official academic credentials (high school and any other college or universities attended) must be mailed directly to Richland Community College and translated into English.

International students must have graduated from high school and meet all academic standards as set forth in the College Catalog. Also, International students must take a full-time load of classes (12 credit hours or more each semester) and be enrolled in a program of study.

English Proficiency

All students must demonstrate English proficiency. A TOEFL score of 500 or above (written exam), 173 or above (computerized exam), or 61 or above (Internet based exam) is required. When submitting TOEFL scores to Richland, the RCC ID number is 1976.

A student is exempt from the English proficiency test if schooling occurred in a country where English is a native language and instruction was done in English. To make arrangements to take the test, an interested person should write directly to the

High School Students

I understand that

1. If I plan to attend another college or university after high school graduation, I should check with that school to be sure the credits I earn in this program will transfer appropriately.
2. Richland courses will be evaluated as college students and students are expected to follow the rules & regulations of Richland Community College. All students will abide by Richland’s Student Rights and Responsibilities as found in the Student Handbook.
3. Richland Community College students are covered under the “family Educational Rights and Privacy Act” (FERPA), which prohibits Richland Community College from disclosing information to anyone, including parents, without the student’s written consent.
4. Course grades and attendance records will be released to the high school for purposes of awarding high school credit.
5. If a student does not complete required coursework, an “Incomplete” may be assigned by the instructor. A student has 60 days from the end of class to resolve the incomplete grade. It is the student’s responsibility to remove the “I” so it can be replaced with the appropriate letter grade. When the “I” grade is replaced with the student’s letter grade, another grade report will be sent to the high school (dual credit only).
